Day 4

Sunny and clouds…that was the weather report today.  It is true, you can see the outline of the sun each day and it is bright enough to see from the street level.  Funny thing is that the “clouds” should be called SMOG to be politically incorrect.  There is a constant haze that fills the city.  After being here a few days and seeing what is around and smelling the water {although not drinking it} it is obvious there is pollution all around.  The city is not run down for the most part, it is just hazy. 

Wal Mart was strange.  Since just about everything in our Wal Mart’s are made in China, it is ironic that Wal Mart is in China too.   For those who are not fond of American government intervention in regulating business practices for safety, you may appreciate them a little more after looking at some of these.    On a side note, PETA lovers would definitely have a problem here….

The water has a strange funky smell to it.  The only way I can describe it is pollution like smell.  It is clear, but there are signs posted all around us that say “the water is safe to drink, but we advise you not to.”  Hey thanks for being honest.  We went with the recommendation that we stay away from it.

I thought the people here had no idea what it is like to be at a place where you look up and see blue skies.  Come to find out when it is windy that most of the smog blows away.  It will obviously come back again, but they must know there is something that is not right about that. I don't believe they have any idea that the water smells pretty bad since this is all they know.  I would be afraid to find out what is really in the stuff besides water.
